今年度、本課題では、対話システムの構築に必要な、談話の文脈を動的に解析する手法について検討した。対話システムにおいては、話題となっている内容そのものとその領域についての深い理解が必要なことについてはいうまでもないが、話者の主張に関して論旨の展開の仕方を理解することは、内容の理解だけでなく、適切な応答(協調的な対話文)を生成する上でも必要不可欠な過程である。最下層の要素である文を入力として文脈構造を構成していく場合、動作はボトムアップ的になる。また、これまでに構成された構造と入力とから対話の進行に応じて増進的に解析を進める場合、スタックを基本とした解析システムが自然である。増進的であること、局所的な解析が可能なことに対応するために、修辞構造部分木スタック・モデルを提案した。これは、修辞構造の部分木をスタックの要素とし、入力された文とスタックの状態からシフト動作、還元動作を決定するものである。対話例を収集し、修辞関係を分類した。同一の話者が話した一連の文については、これまでの修辞構造理論である程度扱うことが出来るが、話者が交替する場合については文間の修辞関係が規定されていない。多くの実例から新たに導入すべき修辞関係を探り、修辞構造理論の拡張を試み、枠組みとして修辞構造理論が適用可能であることを確認した。100余りの社説文を対象に、予備的な実験を行なった。表層情報を中心に扱ったものだが、修辞構造木がもともとの段落分けとおおよそ一致しており、本手法の有効性が確認された。
