今年度は,絵画の構成色の色分布の類似度による分析および色相-トーン情報による分析を行なった.また,色彩分析のための代表色抽出における代表色数の判定基準を,心理実験から導いた.代表色とその相対面積によって表わされる色分布は離散分布なので,その類似度を求めるとき,連続分布のように単純に密度関数のL_2距離を用いることができない.そこで,ガウス関数を用いて連続な分布密度関数に対応づけることにより,色分布間の類似度を求めた.色彩的特徴の著名な8人の画家163点について,作家間の類似度や,階層クラスタ法による分類を行ない,色使いの安定した作品群の抽出や,妥当な分類を与えるクラスタを求めることができ,色彩的特徴の分析手法として有効であることが確かめられた.この成果は,第8回国際色彩学会大会(AIC Color 97 Kyoto,平成9年5月,於京都),および第28回日本色彩学会全国大会(9月,於神奈川)において発表した.デザイン画および絵画を対象に,抽出した代表色の色相-トーン情報による分析を行なった.デザイン画については,西アフリカの民俗衣装のデザインを集めた写真集から50点のパターンを取り上げ,代表色の色分布を求め,はじめに人間の観察による分類を行ない,ついで色相-トーン情報を求めて,観察による分類と階層クラスタ法による自動分類とを行ない,どの分類結果もよく互いに対応がつくことを確かめた.絵画については,先に取り上げた絵画163点の分析を行ない,色分布の特徴が色相-トーン情報においても読みとれることを確かめた.この成果は,第28回日本色彩学会全国大会(平成9年9月,於神奈川)において発表した.絵画の色彩分析における代表色数の判定基準について,絵画および代表色画像の構成色を数えさせる実験を行なって,代表色数20色以上という基準およびクラスタ偏差の最大値が1〜2程度という基準の2つを導くことができた.この成果は,一部第28回日本色彩学会全国大会(平成9年9月,於神奈川)において発表した.続報は第29回日本色彩学会全国大会(平成10年5月,於名古屋)において発表する予定である.これまでの研究の総括を,シンポジウム「人文科学における数量的分析(3)」(平成10年3月,於東京)において報告した.
