1.各文明における原典の状況を文明横断的に解明、過去半世紀間の各文明における古典学の総括及び古典学全体に対する大局的総括、古典形成の一般理論を確立などのために、今年度は計4回の研究会議を開催した(7月・11月・11月・12月、東京3回・京都1回)。毎回1名〜4名(計10名)の研究者が各文明における原典について報告し、それに基づき出席者全員で討論を行った。出席者は延べ計約120名。2.会議で報告された文明の内訳は、日本1名、中国3名、インド2名、チベット1名、中央アジア2名、イスラム1名。内、中国の2名は、北京師範大学周桂鈿教授と山東大学鄭傑文教授を招聘、現代最先端の中国古典学の現状と課題を報告してもらった。それ以外の、日本・中国・インド・チベット・中央アジア・イスラムの報告もみな、過去半世紀間の世界と日本の各文明における、原典の存在・保存の状況、原典研究の現状と歴史的総括、新しい方法論の提唱と検討、日本の研究者の役割などに関して、大きな問題提起を行った。また、古典学全体に対しても大局的な総括を行って21世紀の新たな古典学の方向を見出すべく努力したが、この方面では我々のやり残した課題はまだ多いと言わなければならない。3.昨年度に引き続いて今年度も、古典形成の一般理論の確立に向けて模索するという目的のために、諸文明の相異を超えた共通点として、原典の形成に対する口承・伝承・説話・神話と筆写・写本の持つ意義、原典の有する規範性の内容・性質や強弱などについての報告・討論を重点的に行った。4.原典の内外における写本・版本の調査を進め、電子機器を用いてそれらをデータ・ベース化するために、新たにパソコン1台を購入した。また今年度は本研究プロジェクトの最終年度に当たるので、原典班論文集を出版したが、その入力・出力や編集作業のために学生・嘱託アルバイトを多数使った。
