本年度は内閣文庫、『続通信全覧』(外交史料館蔵)、江川家文書(国立史料館架蔵写真帳)、武藤文庫(長崎大学付属図書館蔵)、狩野文庫(東北大学付属図書館蔵)、住田文庫(神戸大学付属図書館蔵)、神戸大学海洋学部海事資料館、長崎県立図書館、弘前市立弘前図書館、黒羽藩校作新館旧蔵図書(芭蕉の館蔵)の調査を行って目録を作成した。このうち安政4年(1857)から慶応2年(1866)までに長崎奉行が江戸に送った上書の銘書を編纂した『諸上書銘書帳』(長崎県立図書館蔵)は、長崎海軍伝習を行い、長崎製鉄所を管掌し、文久期の幕府海軍増強政策で重要な役割を果たした長崎奉行の動向を明らかにするうえで不可欠であり、また安政6年(1859)から元治元年(1864)までの軍艦奉行に関わる文書を収めた『御軍艦操練所伺等之留』(内閣文庫蔵)は、文久期の軍艦奉行の動向を知るうえで重要なので、両文書については細目を作成した。さらに文部省維新史料編纂事務局に貸出中、関東大震災で焼失した『長崎飽浦製鉄所・立神造船場一件』4〜7(『続通信全覧』)については、『類輯之部総目録』に載る同書の細目を手掛かりにして出典を明らかにした。複写したのは外務省引継書類(東京大学史料編纂所蔵)、維新史料編纂局引継書類(同前)、近藤記念海事文庫(東京都立中央図書館蔵)、神戸大学海洋学部海事資料館所蔵文書である。本研究は、安政期から文久期まで(1854-1863)の幕府の蒸気船・洋式帆船導入関係資料の所在調査と総合目録作成を目的とするが、元治期から慶応期まで(1864-1868)の資料が所蔵されている場合には、それもあわせて調査し、目録を作成した。その結果、幕府の蒸気船・洋式帆船導入による近代海事産業の育成、海軍の創設、海運の近代化の過程の研究に必要な資料の所在はほぼ解明されたといってよい。
