本研究は以下の3点を明らかにすることを目的として行われた:(1)日本人英語学習者の英作文語彙の特徴を明らかにする、(2)中学2年から高校2年までの語彙習得の発達的な特徴を明らかにする、(3)特に語と語の結びつき(コロケーション)の発達過程の特徴を明らかにする。主な研究成果は以下の通りである:1.英作文データのコーパス整備すでに他のプロジェクトで収集してあった英作文データを学年別、トピック別に整理しコーパス化する作業を完成した。現在約100万語の英語学習者の作文コーパスとして利用可能になりつつある。今後は研究成果公開促進費などを利用して、第2言語習得研究者間でデータの共有などを進めるつもりである。2.基本的な英作文語彙の特徴把握基本動詞の連結(コロケーション)の発達を中心に、基本動詞の頻度分布、誤りの頻度分布、学年による語彙的誤りの推移、日本語からの干渉の影響などについてデータを分析した。その結果誤りの頻度分布は基本動詞によって異なり、特に日本語からの干渉による誤り(*become to do)や構造上の過般化(*come my houseなど)が顕著に見られた。学年による語彙的誤りの推移は今回の基本動詞の連結に関する限り有意な差が認められなかった。ただし基本動詞の誤りのサンプル数が全体的に少なかったことなどからこの結果は再検証される必要がある。海外のコーパスからの情報を取得英国バ-ミンガム大学のコウビルドプロジェクトの持つコーパスにアクセスし、そこから同様の基本動詞のコロケーションデータを得て、学習者データとの比較を行った。その結果、基本動詞の使用頻度については若干の違いがあったもののほぼ同一であった。今後は基本動詞だけでなく、名詞、形容詞、副詞などその他の連語関係を調査する必要がある。またコーパスデータ自体の増殖を行い.最低中・高・大の各レベルが100万語以上のデータを持つように整備が必要だ。
