本研究の最終的な目標は、図書館情報学の従来の研究成果を踏まえて、ハイパーメディア化したレファレンス・トゥールにおいてユーザの検索効率を最大化するための理論的な基礎を確立することである。本年度は、既存のハイパーメディアの評価と、植物図鑑のハイパーメディア化の実験という二つの作業を行った。第1に、既存のハイパーメディア化したレファレンス・トゥールを実際に利用し、その検索機能の問題点を検討した。ハイパーメディア化したレファレンス・トゥールは、パッケージ系メディアとしてはCD-ROM形態で、ネットワーク情報資源としてはWWW方式で構築されているが、本年度はおもにWWW方式で提供されているものを検討し、評価した。その結果、検索機能の実現においてCGIが有効であることや、検索方法とアクセスポイントの柔軟性という点でまだ問題点が多いことを確認した。第2に、植物図鑑をパソコン上でハイパーメディア化し、検索効率の評価実験を行った。まず、小規模の植物図鑑に収録されているレファレンス情報を、写真や挿し絵は静止画情報としてイメージスキャナから入手し、見出しや解説文は文字情報としてキーボードから入力した。次に、これらを既成のソフトウェアを用いてハイパーメディア・データベースに再構築した。そして、元の冊子体と新システムとの検索効率の相違を実験によって評価するとともに、レファレンス・トゥールのハイパーメディア化においてどのような検索機能が実現可能であるか、それがどのくらい検索効率の改善に貢献するのかを一般的に検討した。

The ultimate goal of this study is to establish the theoretical basis for maximizing the search efficiency of library informatics. This year, we have carried out two kinds of work: evaluation of existing plants and plant identification. The first is to discuss the problems of existing search functions. The second is the plant identification and evaluation.
