This paper examined how the Japanese computer industry emerged and developed. The cases of NEC, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Toshiba and the role of MITI were closely investigated. In the case of NEC, a cross share-holding among Sumitomo group facilitated NEC's growth in the 1960s. In the emergent process of the industry, MITI and its industrial policy facilitated the development particularly when it utilized private competition and governmental coordination simultaneously. Entrepreneurship, however, played more important role for the development of the industry.

本文考察了日本计算机产业的产生和发展过程。对NEC、富士通、日立、东芝的案件以及MITI的作用进行了密切调查。在NEC的情况下，住友集团之间的交叉持股促进了NEC在20世纪60年代的增长。在产业的兴起过程中，通产省及其产业政策的运用，特别是同时利用私人竞争和政府协调，促进了产业的发展。然而，企业家精神对该行业的发展发挥了更重要的作用。
