项目摘要

今年度は本科研の最終年度で、統一テーマのもと、各分担者の課題に沿って、フィールドを南アジアとして、代表者以下、11名が参加した。インド経済は、1970年代は閉鎖的経済下での農村開発、80年代は政局の混乱による経済の低迷のなかでの自由化の開始、90年代は自由化の推進と性格づけられる。しかし、こうした経済自由化・国際化の進展のなかで、生活水準の向上による家電製品や自家用車の普及など目に見える形での変化が起こり、教育の更なる普及も進んできた。今年度の調査は、こうした背景をふまえて行われた。農村開発は政府の補助が次第に縮小した影響をうけてきたことをUP州の例から示した。パンジャブにおける女子の就労実態についでの調査では、未熟練労働者にとって就労が非常に厳しいことが明らかになった。また、西インド、ラジャスタンにおける都市近代化の調査研究も行った。一方、教育の面では、情報化・国際化に対応した政策の立案と実践が始められてきたが、急増する学齢層への教育機会の確保や、都市に比べて農村の教育環境の改善がなお今日的課題であることを指摘した。教育制度面では、教師教育の充実とともに教師の待遇改善の必要性を指摘した。次に、インド周辺の地域に関しては、バングラデシュでの高等教育をマレーシアと国際提携してすすめる実態、ネパールにおける農業近代化を養蚕業の振興によって進める実態、モルディブにおけるスポーツ教育の実態、、ネパールにおける芸術教育の実態などが調査分析された。なお、東南アジアの補備として、フィリピンの理数科教育の実地調査も実施した。こうした本科研の最終年度の諸成果は、全体計画のなかで重要な部分をなし、当初計画を完結するものとなった。なおこれらの具体的成果は、別途報告書で報告する。
