本年度は、これまでに実施したリトアニア共和国のトラカイ(Trakai)地方とベラルーシ共和国のイヴャネッツ(Ivjanec)地方における、戦前生まれのポーランド系住民を対象としたフィールド調査の際に録音した言語資料をすべてテクスト化することから始めた。そしてこのテクストをもとに、リトアニアおよびベラルーシで現在話されているポーランド語方言の主な言語特徴を、音声と文法(形態論・統語論)に分けて記述した上、それぞれの言語特徴の出現頻度を分析した。また、現地住民の言語行動に多大な影響を及ぼしたと考えられる、第二次大戦前のポーランド領時代から戦後のソ連時代、そして現在のリトアニア共和国とベラルーシ共和国時代における社会言語学的背景の変化を記述した。具体的には、調査対象に選んだ上述の二地域に関する基本的な文献資料を収集し、それぞれの地域の言語接触の歴史や文化の違いについてまとめた。そして母語の選択に関わる社会的要因と言語との関係を分析し、第二次大戦前のポーランド領時代から今日のリトアニアおよびベラルーシ時代までの住民の言語生活に密接に関わる様々な社会場面の変化を記述するため、それぞれの地域でコミュニケーションが行われる主な社会場面(家庭、学校、教会、役所など)における言語の機能分布をフィールド調査の結果をもとに明らかにした。以上の研究成果の一部を2004年9月16日にポーランドのビャウィストック(Bialystok)大学で開催された国際学会で口頭発表し、また2004年発行のActa Baltico-Slavica誌(第28巻)やStudia nad polszczyzna kresowa誌(第11巻)などのポーランドの言語学関連の学術雑誌やその他の関連出版物にも公表した。
