細胞内寄生性植物病原細菌の一種であるファイトプラズマをターゲットとし、そのゲノム配列にもとづいたポストゲノミクス解析を多方面から行った。その結果、ファイトプラズマの宿主特異性を決定している分子メカニズムの解明に成功し、またファイトプラズマが持つ新規な病原性因子の単離にも成功した。
