项目摘要

16世紀後半から19世紀後半まで(以下「近世」と呼ぶ)の東アジアの国際関係を、琉球王国を題材に検討した。具体的には、(1)中日両国に同時に「臣従」していた琉球の国際的位置がどのように形成・維持されたのかを、琉・中・日の史料を複眼的に分析することによって明らかにする一方で、(2)琉球の社会内部において中・日との関係がどのように消化・内在化されたのかを東アジア諸国との比較の中で考察してきた。その成果は、学術論文(「琉球人か倭人か一十六世紀末から十七世紀初の中国東南沿海における「琉球人」像-」『史学雑誌』116-10)や学会報告(「垣花親方の夢-久米村士族という生き方-」琉球大学、「"The Border of Japan"for Chinese Arrivals in Nagasaki, Satsuma and Ryukyu」中国・中山大学など)の形で順次発表した。また博士論文『近世琉球と中日関係』(2008年2月20日学位取得)をまとめ、近世琉球は(1)中日の関係性を活用して構築・維持された国家であり、(2)中日の関係性を管理・調整した国家であったことを論証した。その上で、近世期の「中-琉-日」の三国関係の形成と維持に、中日関係の動向(特に近世期においてこの二国が正式な国家間関係を有していなかったこと)と、琉球の積極的・自律的な行動が重要な意味を持っていたことを指摘した。すなわち琉球は自らの主体的選択の結果として、中日両国と正式な国家間関係を形成・維持し、そのこと自体を自らのアイデンティティーに取り込みながら、二国の狭間における存在意義を外的・内的に獲得していったことを具体的に跡づけた。

From the second half of the 16th century to the second half of the 19th century (hereinafter referred to as "modern times"), the theme of international relations and Ryukyu Kingdom is discussed. The concrete aspects include: (1) the formation and maintenance of Ryukyu's international position at the same time between China and Japan;(2) the analysis of Ryukyu's internal relations between China and Japan;(3) the digestion and internalization of Ryukyu's international position; and (4) the comparison of Ryukyu's internal relations between China and Japan. The results were published in turn in academic papers ("Ryukyu People" in the Southeast Coast of China from the end of the 16th century to the beginning of the 17th century-"Historical Annals" 116-10), academic reports ("The Dream of Kakuhana Kinkata-Kumemura Shikoku Midori Kiki-" University of the Ryukyus,""The Border of Japan"for Chinese Arrivals in Nagasaki, Satsuma and Ryukyu" China·Sun Yat-sen University). Ph.D. Thesis "Modern Ryukyu and Sino-Japanese Relations"(Degree awarded February 20, 2008)(1) Sino-Japanese Relations: Construction and Maintenance of the State;(2) Sino-Japanese Relations: Management and Adjustment of the State;(3) Sino-Japanese Relations: Demonstration of the State;(4) Sino-Japanese Relations: Management of the State;(5) Sino-Japanese Relations: Construction and Maintenance of the State;(6) Sino-Japanese Relations: Construction and Maintenance of the State;(7) Sino-Japanese Relations: Construction and Maintenance of the State;(8) Sino-Japanese Relations: Management and Adjustment of the State; and (9) Sino-Japanese Relations: Management and Adjustment of the State; and (9) Sino-Japanese Relations. The formation and maintenance of the "China-Japan" relationship in the upper and modern times, the trend of Sino-Japanese relations (especially in the modern times), and the important significance of Ryukyu's active and self-disciplined actions As a result of the election of the main body of Ryukyu, China and Japan, the formal inter-state relations are formed, maintained, and self-contained.
