350年余り続いた長崎県下のカクレキリシタン信仰は組織崩壊の危機が叫ばれて久しかったが、ここ5,6年いよいよ解散が進行し、各地区とも秒読み段階に入ってきた。この流れを食い止める方策もなければ、またその積極的な意味も存在しないといえよう。しかし、キリスト教の日本的な受容のあり方を如実に示す貴重な事例として、早急にしっかりその信仰の終焉の記録・資料保存に取り組むことが不可欠である。
