本年度は主に次の2つの研究を行った。第1の研究が多角化と株主資本コストに関連する実証研究であり、第2は経営者の業績予想と会計発生高に関する実証研究である。多角化と株主資本コストについては実証分析を行い、「証券アナリストジャーナル』に掲載した。本研究では、多角化戦略が株主資本コストに与える影響を実証的に検証した。多角化にともなう企業と投資家との情報格差の拡大によって、当該企業への投資に対するペイオフ推定のリスクが増大し、資本コストが上昇すると考えられる。先行研究の多くはコングロマリット・ディスカウントの要因として経営の非効率性を指摘するが、本稿では多角化戦略の採用自体がリスクプレミアムをもたらす要因となることを示した。実証分析から、多角化は資本コストに影響を与えるリスクファクターであり、その内容や実施形態に応じて資本コストに対して異なる影響を与えることが解明された。経営者の業績予想と会計発生高の関連についても日本企業のデータを用いて実証分析を行った。分析の結果、経営者予想の予測誤差と会計発生高、および経営者予想の予測誤差と正常会計発生高の間に統計的に有意な関連があることが明らかになった。また、経営者予想の改訂と会計発生高、および同改訂と正常会計発生高との間に関連があることを明らかにした。こうした分析結果は、経営者が発生主義会計を十分に理解していないことを示唆する。この研究については、マレーシアで開催された、"19^<th> Asian-Pacific Conference on International Accounting Issues"において発表を行った。
