项目摘要

本研究では「doing gender(ジェンダーをする)」という概念に着目し、学校・職場内において、人々が自らのジェンダー/セクシュアリティを、自ら意図的に、あるいは他者から意思に反して構築する/されることがどのようなメカニズムで起きているのかを検討した。本研究では、人々のジェンダー/セクシュアリティというものが、アプリオリに存在しているのではなく、ある場面で行為者間の間で持ち出されることによって作り出されているのではないか、という理論的立場をとっている。たとえば、セクシュアル・ハラスメントに代表されるような学校・職場のトラブルは、文脈を無視して突然「ジェンダーをする」ことが持ち出される現象の典型例である、と考える。本年度行ったのは次の4点である。(1)国内外の先行研究の収集、(2)アメリカ社会学会参加と「ジェンダーの構築」に関連する最先端の研究動向の把握、(3)大学生を対象にアルバイト先でのハラスメント経験についての質問紙調査、(4)大学生を対象にアルバイト先でのハラスメント経験についてのインタビュー調査(継続実施中)。なお、平成20年度中に、これまでの研究をまとめた成果を論文として発表する予定である。ここまでの知見を簡単にまとめると、(1)アルバイト先でのハラスメント経験者は量的にはごく少数であるが、お客や上司からのハラスメントを経験しているものは存在している。(2)経験者の中で、その場で表立って文句をいったものは皆無であり、(3)「相手がお客さんだからはっきりと拒否するわけにはいかない」「相手が上司だからあまり強くいえない」という理由から、何とかその場をうまく「やり過ごす」/「取り繕う」ことにむしろ力点が置かれていることがわかった。これは、突然構築された「ジェンダー/セクシュアリティ」が、「客と販売員」「上司と部下」という別な文脈で消去されようとするプロセスといえるのではないだろうか。
