tRNAの一生における細胞内動態の全貌を明らかにする目的で、出芽酵母より新たなtRNA結合タンパク質の生化学的な単離・同定を行った。Hsp70ファミリーに属すSsa2pが新規tRNA結合タンパク質として同定され、実際、栄養飢餓時に見られるtRNAの核内輸送因子であることが、in vivo、in vitroの実験で明らかとなった。併せて、RNAの3'末端を配列特異的に可視化できる手法を開発した。
