宮城県の全市町村を対象に介護保険認定者における要介護度の推移を検討した。その結果、要介護1からの悪化割合には最高と最低との間で約2倍の差が、要介護1からの改善割合には10倍以上の差があった。介護保険で介護予防が導入される前後で、推移確率に変化はなかった。仙台市のある地区の70歳以上住民を長期追跡した結果、低アルブミン血症、末梢動脈疾患、高感度C反応性蛋白高値が要介護度の発生・悪化に関わる要因であった。
