トリクロロエチレン(TRI)を使用している健康労働者と全身性皮膚肝障害患者について、TRI曝露状況、HLA-B多型、サイトカイン、HHV6の再活性化について調査した。TRIの個人曝露濃度は、日本の許容濃度を超えた環境で作業をしている者が39%いた。HLA-B*1301多型を持つものはゼロで、患者群の31.9%よりはるかに低い頻度であった。HHV6の再活性化を示した者は9.1%で、患者の54.8%より低かった。TNFαおよびIL10がカットオフ値を超えた者はそれぞれ7.2%と1.7%であり、患者の57.1%と81%に比較してそれぞれ低かった。
