角膜の動的な挙動を三次元的に観測するシステムを構築し,従来,観察することのできなかった凹部を含めた角膜変形挙動の可視化および数値データ化を実現した.角膜変形の個人差に着目し,非接触眼圧計による眼圧値と角膜変形の度合い表す曲率との相関関係を調査することにより,老年層の角膜の張りが失われ,同じ力で印加しても若年層に比べ角膜が変形しやすく,眼圧を過小評価してしまう危険性があるという知見を得た.
