分子疫学的因子や生活環境因子が, がん等の疾病リスクにどのような影響を与えるかを調べるために, 生活環境における曝露の寄与率を取り入れた因果推論モデルを構築し, 寄与率の推定値のばらつきを考慮した手法を開発した。提案手法は, m水準のカテゴリカルな曝露変数に対して, 曝露群の症例を曝露由来のものとそうでないものに確率的に分類し, 寄与率に基づくオッズ比により因果関係を推測する。実データに即した数値実験の結果, 曝露由来でないとして分類された曝露群の症例によって, 従来の方法において推測された因果関係の強さが過小評価されている可能性を示唆した。
