本研究では、地下帯水層の貯留層としての性能、あるいは貯留後の超長期に渡るCO2地中貯留の安全性を評価の実施を目的として、超臨界状態における帯水層内での水→CO2置換プロセス、貯留後の超臨界CO2の拡散や流動のプロセスを、非破壊検査法の1つであり、かつ、高精度の分解能を有するX線CT法により評価分析した。具体的には、X線CT法を岩石への超臨界CO2圧入室内実験に適用して圧入・溶解プロセスをX線CTスキャナーにより高精度に可視化し、微視的な視点からCO2の岩石内挙動を分析した。
