住宅運用時のエネルギー消費量を設計段階で高い精度で予測することを目的として、省エネルギー基準のエネルギー計算に使用する仕様値に居住者属性や住まい方を変数として加えることで、エネルギー予測値が多数の住宅で得られた実績値と合うような予測モデルを開発してきた。今後は、実績デートの拡充と生活に関するアンケートを行うとともに、このモデルに更に様々な生活行動を変数として加え、ロジックの一部にグレーボックスモデルを導入することで、より精度の高い予測モデルの構築を目指している。また海外の住宅でのエネルギー消費量データの活用も計画しており、日本とは異なる暖冷房や生活形態のデータも取得し、相互比較を行うことで、より汎用的なモデルの構築も検討する。またこれらの成果を取りまとめ、一般向けや技術者向けの資料を作成し、予測モデルのみではなく住宅の省エネルギーに資する資料の作成を予定している。進捗状況としては、公的な委員会への参加（自立循環型住宅開発プロジェクトの家電に関する検討委員会に専門委員として出席）し、この委員会では、主に住宅のエネルギー消費実績値総量から用途別の消費量を分解する手法や特定の家電機器の電力消費量調査などを担当し、委員会の報告書の一部を執筆した。また、研究成果の一部を日本語および英語の学術論文として執筆中である。本研究は、設計段階のエネルギー性能評価に基づきながらも、居住者の行動単位でエネルギー増減効果を評価し、運用時のエネルギー消費量予測を可能とするものであり、省エネルギーな住まい方に関する一般および技術者向けの情報公開、既エネルギー性能計算プログラムによる住宅運用時のエネルギー評価への応用化等のような将来性が期待される。
