本研究は、ザンビア共和国南部州に居住する農耕民トンガ社会を事例に、農村女性の現金稼得が当該社会内部で実現/受容されているメカニズムをマクロな社会経済変容やジェンダー関係の変遷のなかに位置づけて明らかにし、在来の社会関係や制度の大幅な変革をともなわない女性のエンパワーメントのあり方を探求することを目的とした。平成21年4月1日から10月8日まではザンビアに渡航し、調査村でフィールドワークを実施した。女性も農村地域経済をつくり、維持し、再編する主体であるとして捉え、彼女たちが現金を稼得しそれを支出することの意義、及びその自己裁量の幅などについて、聞き取りと参与観察を行った。その結果、女性たちが農外就業で得た現金を農閑期の個人的な社会活動資金に充てている割合が比較的高いこと、またその社会活動として顕著に見られる、都市に住む親族訪問と農民組合活動における女性の活動実態や役割を明らかにした。平成21年10月9日から平成22年3月31日までは、フィールドワークで収集したデータの整理・分析を進め、女性の現金稼得と彼女たちの社会的ネットワークの維持/確保との関連性、それによる生計の安定や社会的保障との関係性について考察した。そして前年度の研究成果を含めて、アフリカの生業とジェンダーに関する先行研究で指摘されてきた農村女性の現金稼得とそれによるエンパワーメントの限界性について再検討し、地域の文脈に即したかたちでの社会融和的な女性のエンパワーメントという新視角を提示した。研究成果の一部は、古今書院の月刊誌『地理』と御茶の水書房より平成22年6月出版予定の共著(椎野若菜編)『おひとりさま人類学』に発表し、平成22年度提出予定の博士論文の執筆を進めた。

This study focuses on rural women's cash production in rural areas of the southern states of the Republic of China, as well as on the social situation and social relations within the society. In the future, the social relations system will be greatly improved. From April 1, 2011 to October 8, 2011, the investigation village was completed. Women in rural areas are responsible for maintaining and reorganizing the main body of the country. They are responsible for cash production and expenditure. They are responsible for their own discretion and participation in the inspection. As a result, women's social activities in rural areas have increased, and women's social activities in urban areas have increased.
