Field Study on Religious Practices as Symbolic Capital in China

本研究旨在考察1990年代S以来中国时期宗教的复兴，重点考察大众宗教被国家政策作为“象征资本”的政治层面，以及国家、地方精英、专家和世俗信徒之间围绕宗教象征大写的互动的社会建构层面。对通过一系列深入的田野调查获得的民族志数据进行的语境分析，不仅表明了行为者进行的社会建设的复杂性，而且还表明了宗教符号大写所产生的社会现象的历史和政治性质。

This study is intended to investigate revival of religions in China since 1990's, focusing on the political aspect of situations which the popular religions are drawn on as a"symbolic capital"by the state policies and the socially constructed aspect of the interaction among the state, local elites, specialists and lay believers over the capitalization of religious symbols. The context analysis of ethnographic data which were obtained through a series of intensive fieldworks has shown not only the complexity of social construction practiced by the actors, but also historical and political nature of the social phenomena which are produced by the capitalization of religious symbols.
