本年度は、昨年度構築した基本モデルをさらに拡張した。とりわけ、マクロ経済学でいまだ未解決問題である金融市場の発達と一国内の不平等の関係を分析するために、基本モデルを拡張し、アメリカ経済についてカリブレーションを行った。アメリカ経済において、借入制約が緩めば緩むほど、世界の金融市場より資金がアメリカ国内に流れ込み、その資金が能力の高い人だけに利用され、国内の不平等が一層拡大するという結果が得られた。この結果は現実のGini係数をよくとらえており、開放経済において金融市場がだんだん発達していくと一国内の不平等が拡大していくという重要な事象を説明する理論モデルを構築できたといえる。また、昨年度理論モデルから得られた結果を、世界129ヵ国から得たパネルデータを用いて、実証分析を行った。その分析によれば、国内の金融市場が完全なものに近づくか、あるいはまったく発達していない状態では経済は変動せずに安定し、金融市場の発達度が中途半端であると、経済は不安定になるという結果が得られた。この結果は昨年度構築した理論モデルと整合的なものである。さらに本年度は基本モデルを二ヵ国モデルに拡張することに成功し、現在その結果をまとめた論文を執筆中である。そのモデルによると、閉鎖経済では、animal spiritsは現れず、経済は安定し通常の新古典派的成長モデルと同じような成長経路をたどる。しかし、一旦二国の金融市場が統合されると、animal spiritsが現れ、金融市場の不完全性とも相まって、経済が大きく変動するようになる。これは通常の新古典派的二ヵ国モデルでは得ることのできない結果であり、金融市場の不完全性のもとで、人々の心理状態が引き起こす経済変動をうまく描写したモデルであるといえる。
