项目摘要

本研究は、唯一LHC-ATLAS実験でのみ取得可能な世界最高エネルギー(7TeV)の衝突データを用いて、質量起源粒子や超対称性粒子などの新物理探索に感度があるトップ(t)・クォークのτ粒子とbクォークへの崩壊事象(t→τυb)の生成断面積測定を目的とする。本年度の成果として下記2点挙げる:(1)終状態にτ粒子及びμ粒子を含むトップクォーク対生成事象の選別手法確立2010年から本格的にデータ収集を開始した全物理データ(35pb^<-1>)を用いて、特に、信号事象の運動学的特徴を元に事象選別の最適化を実施した。その結果、これまでのデータで、全事象選別を通過した24事象の中に、約98%の統計的有意さで、t→τυb信号が含まれることを立証した。この結果は、2011年夏までに取得が期待される500pb^<-1>のデータによって、99.9999%以上の統計的有意さで信号事象の発見が可能であることを示すものである。また、本事象選別による選別効率が4.9%,信号対雑音比(S/N比)が0.7であることを示した。以上は実機性能を忠実に反映させたモンテカルロシミュレーションを元に抽出した結果であるが、事実、これまでに得た実験データは本研究による予想値と誤差の範囲で一致を示す。(2)検出器性能評価を基礎とした本測定の系統誤差の評価輝度(ルミノシティー)測定から生じる誤差が3.2%、信号事象の検出に伴う系統誤差が17%であることを明らかにした。現在の統計量ではトップクォーク対生成事象の選別に用いるbジェットの要求、MCシミュレーションのモデリングが支配的系統誤差であることを示し、前者は今後データが増えることによって向上することが可能であることを明らかにした。
This study aims to determine the sensitivity of mass origin particles and supersymmetric particles in new physical exploration, and to determine the cross-section area of mass origin particles and supersymmetric particles in new physical exploration. The results of this year are as follows:(1) The selection method for the generation of events in the final state of τ particles and μ particles is established. The collection of events in this field is started. <-1>The optimization of the selection of events in the kinematic characteristics of signal events is carried out. The results of this study indicate that 98% of the statistical results of the 24 events were positive. The results showed that in the summer of 2011, more than 99.999% of the expected 500pb <-1>of data were obtained, and the occurrence of intentional signal events was possible. For example, the selection efficiency of the pixel selection was 4.9%, and the signal-to-noise ratio (S/N ratio) was 0.7. The above results show that there is no difference between the expected error and the expected error. (2)The systematic error of the detector performance evaluation is 3.2%, and the systematic error of the signal detection is 17%. The statistical quantity of the present time shows the systematic error dominated by the selection of the generated event, and the statistical quantity of the present time shows the possibility of the future increase.
