本年度の主な研究活動は5月に英国・Palgrave Macmillan社より出版された「ヨーロッパおよびアジアにおける敵対国間の和解(Reconciling Enemy States in Europe and Asia)」を初めて単著で執筆したことである。本著書の出版は知的忍耐力と経済援助を必要とする長期に渡る困難な作業であった。出版直後に、播国連事務総長が研究トピックに個人的関心があるということで、5月に東京における個人的な会合に招待された。事務総長からは全面的な支援の約束と積極的に市民社会と関わりながらテーマの研究を続けて行くよう奨励を受けた。以降、自身の論考を大手新聞記事で発表し、世界各地で出版記念イベントを開催し、大学にて講義を実施した。6月にはジュネーブにて最初の出版記念イベントを開催した。7月に開催したソウルでの二回目の出版イベントは自身で主催し、教授、外交官、ジャーナリストのみならず、主婦、高校生、会社員、そして同僚が東京から応援に駆けつけてくれた。11月12日に慶應義塾大学において、ポーランド・ドイツ間、および韓国・日本間の和解についての講義依頼があったが、10月31日の採用期間終了までに韓国へ帰国しなければいけなかったので、日本への航空券を自費で購入し会議に参加した。会議では慶應大学の学生と自身の研究成果を分かち合い、議論を行い、現在でもメールやソーシャルメディアを通じて知的対話を続けている。高等教育システムでの教鞭をとることへの新たな才能を発見させてくれた東京大学、慶應義塾大学そして国連大学の学生に心より感謝したい。これらの経験は教員としてだけではなく、人生の先輩として自身の経験を学生と分かち合いたいという気持ちを奮い立たせる貴重な経験となった。先週韓国国会にて行われたSchool for Politicsの卒業式で本年度最優秀講義賞を受賞した。受賞金額は慶應大学での講義のために支払った日本への航空券代と同額であったため、今後日本の大学から面接等に呼ばれた際の航空券代として使用する予定である。
