Molecular mechanism of cartilage repair using tenascin C and application for treatment

We used tenascin-C (TNC) to enhance cartilage repair. The treatment of human articular chondrocytes with TNC accelerated chondrocyte proliferation andstimulation of proteoglycan synthesis. Cartilage defects were created in the murineknee. Proteoglycan and type II collagen rich cartilage was regenerated after administration of TNC. Local administration of TNC could promote the cartilage repair.
