The novel diagnostic marker of colorectal cancer with high sensitivity

Currently, several tumor markers are clinically used for the assistance of diagnosis of colorectal cancer. However, elevation of these markers is usually detected only in the relatively advanced tumor. We identified the novel biomarker, HL71a, which expresses not only in advanced phase but also in early phase of colorectal cancer. This gene did not overexpress in normal tissues, whereas the primary colorectal cancers with stage I to IV strongly demonstrated the expression of HL71a by realtime-PCR and in-situ-hybridization. It is suggested that HL71a may be promising biomarker for early phase of colorectal cancer.
