Liang Qichao's Cultural Construction and the Meiji Japan: From the Hundred Days' Reform to the Establishment of "New People"

本文以晚清维新派新闻工作者梁启超与明治日本的关系为研究对象。它通过考察梁启超的生死观、宗教观、墨子观、中国古代文化观，以及他与章太炎等知识分子的关系，追溯了他到日本后建构新人思想的过程。此外，它还特别关注梁启超周围积极参与他的维新活动的人，包括康有为的堂兄康孟青和他的维新派同僚。我的研究发现了许多关于这些数字的新材料和事实。作为一个整体，这个项目不仅扎实地展示了康有为、梁启超在百日维新期间和之后的具体活动，而且更深层次地揭示了近代日本与中国关系和文化交流的意义。

This research focuses on the relationship between Liang Qichao, a reformer and journalist of the late Qing China, and the Meiji Japan. It traces the process in which Liang Qichao constructed the thought of “new people” after he came to Japan, by examining his view of life and death, religion, Mozi and ancient Chinese culture, as well as his relationship with other intellectuals such as Zhang Taiyan. In addition, it pays special attention to the people around Liang Qichao who actively participated in hisreform activities, including Kang Mengqing-Kang Youwei’s cousin, and HeShuling - Liang’s fellow reformer. My research discovered many newmaterials and facts on these figures. As a whole, this project not only demonstrates on a solid ground the specific activities of Kang Youwei and Liang Qichao during and after the Hundred Days’ Reform, but also reveals at a deeper level the significance of the relationship and cultural exchange between Japan and China in the modern period.
