Effects of intravenous anesthetics on the angiotensin II receptor of vascular smooth muscle cells

In patients receiving angiotensin II type 1 receptor antagonist or angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor, blood pressure is lowered than patients receiving calcium antagonist even if the anti-hypertensive effect is the same extent.I examined whether various intravenous anesthetics is involved in the expression level of the angiotensin II type 1 receptor. It was found that intravenous anesthetics was not affect the type 1 nor type 2 angiotensin II receptors. I considered that it is necessary to further study in the future about the effects of intravenous anesthetics on the renin-angiotensin system.
