共同研究は2部門に分かれている。1つは、タスニム氏との個別共同研究、もう一つは他の研究者を巻き込んだ広範なバングラデシュ市民社会(政治)研究である。a.タスニム氏との個別共同研究:バングラデシュにおける市民社会の民主化:日本の自治会をモデルにして。バングラデシュのような発展途上国の市民社会が民主化するためには、日本の草の根の市民社会(自治会という近隣住民組織の活動)が参考になるのではないか、という問題意識で比較研究を行った。その作業は、1)日本の自治会の社会関係資本、参加、地方自治体との関係における特徴の抽出、2)バングラデシュにおけるコミュニティレベルでの集団活動の特徴の抽出、3)1)2)のレベルの理解を基礎にして、バングラデシュにおいて活性化しかつ草の根レベルの民主主義を制度化することにつながる、コミュニティ組織のモデルの開発、を含んでいる。個別共同研究の平成24年度の進捗状況:1.日本とバングラデシュにおける、草の根市民社会に関する文献研究の完成。2.バングラデシュでのRajshahi Districtで16の地方自治体の責任者への市民社会組織との関係等に関する面接調査、フィールドワークの遂行。3.日本の関連した近隣地方自治体への市民社会組織との関係等に関する面接調査、フィールドワークの遂行。4.日本の自治会調査のデータ分析。上記の調査の結果、日本と比較してバングラデシュでの自治体の市民社会組織への「信頼」の弱さ、パートナーとして見倣していないこと、市民社会組織も自治体への期待が薄い点が浮き彫りになった。また日本の自治体、自治会などの政治的中立性に対してバングラデシュでの党派性も明らかであった。日本では近隣レベルでの様々な自治体・自治会の連携、協働がなされていることに特徴がある。b.広範なバングラデシュ市民社会・政治研究(学術書事業)は進展し、英語での公刊書を準備するに至っている。タスニム氏は、辻中豊ほか3名とともにCivil Society in Bangladesh : Quest for Development and Democracyと題したバングラデシュの市民社会に関する学術書を編集中である。

Joint research is divided into two departments. 1. Research on civil society (politics) a. Individual joint research on civil society: democratization of civil society: Japan's autonomous society. A comparative study of the democratization of civil society in Japan and the root of civil society in Japan (activities of local associations and neighborhood organizations) was conducted. 1) Extraction of characteristics of social relations, capital, participation, local self-government and relations in Japan, 2) Extraction of characteristics of collective activities in Japan, 3)1)2) Foundation for understanding of Japanese society, activation of Japanese society, institutionalization of Japanese democracy,コミュニティ组织のモデルの开発、を含んでいる。The progress of individual joint research in 2007:1. Completion of literature research on civil society in Japan. 2. Conduct of face-to-face investigation and investigation on relations between responsible persons and civil society organizations of Rajshahi District and other 16 local governments. 3. Japan's local governments, civil society organizations and other related issues such as face-to-face investigation, public relations and implementation 4. Analysis of the investigation data of japan's autonomous council. The results of the survey mentioned above, the weakness of the "information" of the civil society organizations of the autonomous bodies in Japan, and the weakness of the expectations of the civil society organizations of the autonomous bodies in Japan.
