報告者の研究の主題は、中世インドの哲学者であり文法学者であるマンダナミシュラによる、言葉の本質を扱った作品『スポータの論証』の全訳・校訂の作業を行うことであり、この内容は今年度提出予定の博士論文のメインテーマとなっている。この作品はインド古典から中世の、言語理論のひとつスホータ理論を確立した作品であり、文法学派の言語哲学を知る上で欠かせない資料であるが、マンダナミシュラ自体がサンスクリット研究史の中で調査が抜け落ちている状態が長く続いていた。このため申請者はこの状況を打道すべく、彼の諸作品の思想の解明を目指してこれまで研究を行ってきた。25年度は多くの時間をハンブルク大学での研究遂行に割いた。ハンブルクでの研究期間中は、『スポークの論証』後半部に収められている経量部の音素無常論を抽出して扱い、法称の『量評釈』より引用された言語理論がマンダナ言語理論とどのような点で異なるのかを探った。この成果は、ドイツのボッフムで10月に行われたIntemational Indology Graduate Research Symposium (IIGRS)にて発表し、多くのヨーロッパのインド学者から好評を得た。同内容はオックスフォードから出版されるインド学の雑誌に掲載されることが決定している。同時にマンダナの後期の著作『ブラフマンの立証』における語ブラフマン理論とスポータ理論の相関点を探った。また7月にはオランダのライデンサマースクールに参加し、サンスクリットの集中的読解を行うとともに、現地のインド学を学ぶ学生たちとの交流を図った。今年の1月よりオックスフォードへの留学が認められたため、1月で特別研究員を辞退したが、それまでの期間に多くのことを京都及びハンブルクで学ぶことができた。現在は博士論文執筆に集中しているが、この間に学んだ全てを何らかの形で反映させる予定である。
