（１）神祇令・神祇官の展開について本年度は前年度の研究成果を受け、神祇格・神祇式についての研究を行なった。「桓武朝の祭祀と歴史―『続日本紀』祭祀関係記事の解釈の試み―」（『続日本紀研究会編『続日本紀と古代社会』）は格式編纂の起点の一つである桓武朝の政権のあり方と、新しい神祇祭祀の成立を『続日本紀』の記事の分析から論じたもので、渡来人の母を持つ桓武天皇が、政敵である井上内親王を失脚させて政権についた経緯から、元伊勢斎王であった井上内親王と同様に伊勢神宮に参拝し、母親の血統を大陸の神々の子孫と位置づけることで、自らの政権の正当化を図ったとした。「賀茂斎院・伊勢斎宮の淳和天皇朝における存廃について ―狩野本『類聚三代格』天長元年十二月二十九日太政官符の評価をめぐって」（『続日本紀研究』409号）は従来注目されてこなかった狩野文庫本『類聚三代格』に収められた官符の検討から、淳和天皇朝における神祇政策の変化について論じたもので、賀茂斎院は淳和天皇の即位後まもなく廃止され、その後嵯峨太上天皇の意向を受けて復活したのではないかと推測した。いずれも従来あまり論じられることのなかった史料から平安時代初期の神祇祭祀の変容と、その国史や格式への反映を考察したものである。（２）伝承・記録などについてまた、延喜式に式内社として名前が残る地方の神社のあり方を考察する中で、大江篤・久禮旦雄・久留島元「地域の伝説・伝承データベース作成と活用の可能性～尼崎を事例に～」（『人文科学とコンピュータ研究会報告』103-7）というかたちで、地方に残る寺社の伝承の集成と利用について論じたほか、「書評　上野勝之著『夢とモノノケの精神史　平安貴族の信仰世界』」（『古代文化』第66巻第3号）では、古記録にみえる夢や邪気の記事を論じた上野氏の考察を参照しつつ、平安貴族たちの夢や邪気を記録として残す精神性について述べた。
