本年度は資料収集を続けながら、成果をまとめるために活動した。日本の外務省外交史料館と防衛省防衛研究所のほか、2016年6月に天津と北京において資料収集を行い、多数の文献を入手した。特に北京市档案館では戦時中の対日協力政権の宗教政策、あるいは教団や個人宗教者の活動に関連する資料を数多く発見することができた。つづいて、2016年7月にはドイツ・ハノーファー市で開催された国際学術大会において、1930年代の中国北部における緊張した日中関係のもとで活動した中日密教研究会について報告した。利用すべき文献があまりに膨大なため、占領体制と宗教の関わりについては現段階ではまだ完全に総括することができていないが、これからもこの二年で築いた研究成果に基づいて研究を続けていき、最終的に単著という形でまとめることを予定している。本年度の大きな研究成果としては、従来見逃されてきた中日密教研究会を通じて、1930年代の中国北部での日中関係における宗教の役割を確認できたことが挙げられる。中日密教研究会に参加した段祺瑞、王揖唐など中国の要人が持つ政治的なヴィジョンは彼らの宗教に対する関心と不可分な関係にあったことが明らかになり、宗教は彼らの対日協力の上で大きなモチベーションになっていたことを究明できた。以上の研究活動のほか、博士論文を単著として法蔵館から刊行した。また、2015年11月にアトランタで開催されたアメリカ宗教学会で発表した論文が2017年中に学会誌に掲載されることが決定したため、投稿原稿を完成させた。2017年に米国で刊行予定の資料集のために、小栗栖香頂による『北京護法論』の部分的な英訳を行い解説を加えた。
