29年度は、主に(i)英語の接頭辞付加、(ii)透明な主要部(transparent head)を持つ複合語に関する研究を発展させた。(i)に関して、昨年度の研究から導かれた帰結を検証し、その妥当性を示した。英語における接頭辞は、複合の入力となる語彙的接頭辞と、屈折と同様の操作の入力となる機能的接頭辞に分かれることを示した。このことは、接頭辞は派生形態論への入力とはならず、範疇変更機能を持たないことを意味するが、その反例にみえるものもある(例：anti-war movement)。その例としてanti-とpro-に焦点をあて、これら自身が基体の範疇を変えているかどうか検証した。Oxford English Dictionaryから得られた通時的・共時的データに基づき、これらが範疇変更機能を持つと考えなければならない強い証拠は無いと結論付けた。(ii)に関しては、透明な主要部として複合語内に現れる要素は半語彙範疇であるとする仮説の妥当性を示した。透明な主要部は、複合語の主要部位置にありながら非主要部による項の選択を許す点で派生接尾辞と同様の性質を持つ(例：the healing-time of all ills)。先行研究において半語彙範疇として仮定される要素が、実際に透明な主要部として振る舞うことを新たなデータから示し、上記の仮説が正しいことを実証した。また、本研究課題で得られた成果を、博士論文としてまとめた。博士論文では、半語彙範疇が日英語の形態論的現象(上記(i)(ii)に加え、結果名詞・動詞由来転換名詞の形成、オノマトペ複合語(例：「壁ドン」)など)において大きな役割を担っていることを論じた。加えて、形態論研究において長年議論されてきた様々な問題(複合・派生・屈折の区別、競合、主要部性など)についても、「半語彙範疇」という観点からアプローチし、新たな解決法を提案した。

Problems (compound, derivative, inflection, distinction, competition, main part) are proposed. Semi-word categories are proposed.
