项目摘要

コロナ禍によって先送りされていたトカラ列島中之島宮水流遺跡の発掘調査を実施した。３トレンチの拡張を行い、上層から平安時代の層、弥生時代の層、縄文時代の層を明確にすることができた。また、遺物量も増加し、それぞれの時代の遺物組成を明らかにすることができた。平安時代の遺物は、土師器甕・坏、須恵器壺、越州窯系青磁碗、磨石・敲石類、軽石製品が認められる。これらの状況は、九州南部の平安時代の遺物組成に類似するが、土師器坏の大量消費活動の欠落、軽石製品の存在など、トカラ列島の地域性も確認できる。弥生時代～古墳時代初頭の遺物は、九州北部・中部・南部、大隅諸島の弥生土器、奄美諸島の弥生系土器、磨製石鏃、磨石・敲石類、砥石などがある。これらのように多系統に渡る弥生土器が出土した場所は、南島ではほかになく、弥生時代の交易活動の要衝という位置づけが可能となる。また、磨製石鏃の未製品や石屑、砥石を多く含むため、磨製石鏃を現地で製作していたことが判明した。縄文時代の遺物は、奄美・沖縄の貝塚文化前２期末-前３期初頭の土器群が確認された。また、腰岳産黒曜石も確認され、九州地域との交流の証拠である貝塚文化における最も古い黒曜石出土例となった。以上のように、貝塚文化前２期の北限がトカラ列島北部まで及ぶこと、弥生時代には交易活動の要衝となっていたこと、平安時代には概ね九州南部の状況に連動しつつも地域性が確認できることなど、重要な成果を挙げることができた。
