项目摘要

日英のうつ病関連自助会でのフィールドワーク（参与観察とインタビュー）と資料調査に基づく本研究の目的は、日英の職域の「うつ」の語りの固有性を探り、こころの病いの経験をとらえる新たな視座を導出することである。2020年度は、新型コロナウィルス感染症拡大の影響等により、研究計画を大幅に修正して研究を実施した。三点の修正とその展開を記しておく。第一に、対面のフィールドワークは全て中止とし、電話・オンライン（ウェブ会議・ウェブ質問紙のプラットフォームを用いた）でのインタビュー調査に移行して実施した。手続きや調査倫理に関わる事項等については、年度初め頃より英語圏で情報共有が進んでいたためこれを参考とした。そのうえで日英それぞれの所属機関倫理審査委員会より承諾を受けて調査を継続し、日本では8名、英国では3名の協力を得た。ただし対面ではないゆえの制約もあり課題が残っている。特別研究員採用終了後に本研究を発展的に継続させることを計画している。第二は、分析枠組みの修正である。昨年度末に修正した研究推進方策に基づいて、日英での比較可能性も考慮したよりオープンな枠組みによるデータ収集・解釈を目指した。第三は、収集・分析対象資料の範囲の拡大である。感染症拡大を受けた研究形式や時間配分の変化により、英国にて、専門書店やBritish Libraryで資料調査を当初の予定よりも集中的に行い、多くの資料を入手することができた。これら修正点の他に、英国の学会のメンタリング・スキームに継続的に参加したり、国内専門誌書評掲載や学会発表、国外専門誌論文投稿や研究会発表を通して、関係構築や成果発信に注力した。総じて、当初計画をそのまま完遂するには至れなかったが、採用終了後を射程に入れた長期的意義をもつ成果が得られた。特に、社会調査の限界や可能性（国外との往来や交流を含む）に関して、重要な知識と経験が得られた。
