项目摘要

本研究の目的は、精神性を含め高齢期の人間のニーズが充足されるシステムについて、考察することにある。あわせて、医療や福祉関連予算が逼迫する現代において、制度外にある地域資源活用や、非専門職や当事者同士による共助の可能性についても追求する。これにより、高齢者福祉だけでなく、社会的弱者やマイノリティを包摂する社会構築に向けて知見を提供することを目指している。このため、事例研究として、高齢化の著しい南インドにおける、多世代共住型の宗教施設（アーシュラム）の役割について、調査を行う。アーシュラムは、精神修業を目的とした場で、専属の介護者がいない。生活を共有するだけでなく、自らの喜びをもたらす行為としての奉仕(Seva)やマントラの共唱(Name)、瞑想(Dhyana)などの精神修練実践を通じて醸成される、人間関係網および、それぞれ個人の尊厳や居場所感、高齢者の身体的および精神的なニーズとの関係性について質的量的に調査を行う。過年度までに、ケーララ州において、3度の現地調査をそれぞれ、約1ヶ月間を２回、3週間を１回実施した。1度目は、調査地設定のため、フィージビリティ調査を行った。続く２度目の調査では、先行する調査で選定した施設に滞在し、住民やスタッフとの関係構築や協力体制を築くことに努め、さらに当該施設の歴史的経緯や宗教的教義の把握、スタッフや住民の生活様式や信条など、聞き取りと参与観察により基礎情報の収集を行った。この結果を持ち帰り、質問票や数的データを計測する手法などの検討をした。３度目の調査で、質問票に基づく自由会話形式でのインタビューを行った。今年度は、基礎情報の補足調査と調査対象者の実態についての継続調査を実施する予定であったが、コロナ禍のために渡航を断念した。過年度までのデータで論文執筆を進めているが、当初の目的達成のために今後も継続してカウンターパート連絡を取り合い、調査を進める予定である。
