项目摘要

「イエスは神の国を予告したが、到来したのは教会であった」とは、キリスト教の教会論の中で、最も有名とされるA・ロアジーの教会に対する問題提起である。イエスが予告した「神の国」とは、この世の歴史の終わり、つまりは終末を前提としたものである。それに対して教会とは、どこまでも人間の業(わざ)であり、人間の歴史の継続を前提としたものである。従って「神の国」を予告し、終末を待ち望むイエスが、歴史の継続である教会を望むわけがない。ロアジーの問題提起の趣旨は、きわめて明瞭であり、カトリック教会を動揺させるのに十分なものであった。この問いを、そのまま大乗仏教、特に今回課題とする真宗における信仰共同体の問題に置き換えることはできない。しかしこれは、親鸞思想を学ぶものが根底に抱く、真宗の教団存在に対する疑念に通じるものであろう。つまり「親鸞の主著である『教行信証』に集約される彼の課題は、浄土真実の顕示であって、教団の設立ではない」、ということである。このような見方による教団理解は、教団とは単なる歴史的副産物であって、親鸞思想における本質ではない、というものである。大谷派真宗教団において積極的に教団論を取り上げたのが安田理深である。彼はカ-ル・バルトのキリスト教会理解に注目しながら、全く新しい教団理解を、教学的営みを通して掲示した。両者の教団論(教会論)は、近代化が進む中にありながら、近代というものが全面的に信頼する「人間の知恵」を超越したところに、教会存在の源泉を確かめていこうとするものであった。殊にバルトは、教会をつぎのような経緯で確かめる。a教会とは、神の「自己証明」である。bその意味で教会とは、「出来事」である。c従って教会とは、「信仰の眼」によってのみ見出される。以上は、バルトの見解であるが、安田にもこれと呼応する信仰共同体理解が確かめられることである。
