项目摘要

本年度はまず、前年度に論究したアドルノの「自然主義」的議論に対する代表的な批判を検討した。具体的には、社会批判の最終的な審級を、道具的理性による支配を免れた「毀損されざる自然」への「主体の内なる追想」に見出す『啓蒙の弁証法』の議論を、自然あるいは人間の社会的被規定性とその理論的分析の放棄を伴う「観念論的ユートピアニズム」への退行と断罪したヴァルター・ヨプケの批判、ならびに、アドルノによる道具的理性批判の理論的帰趨を、「外的・内的自然とのアルカイックな同一化」を夢想する神秘主義的思想への帰着として批判するハーバーマスの議論を詳細に検討した。アドルノにおける「自然」概念の非合理主義的ないしはロマン主義的な側面を強調する彼らの（むしろ一般的な）批判は、本研究が昨年度明らかにしたアドルノにおける「自然」概念の多元的な成り立ちを考慮するなら、一面的な批判に留まっていることを改めて明らかにした。以上の論究を踏まえ、次いで、アドルノに後続するフランクフルト学派第二世代の「自然主義」的議論を精査した。まずはそれを代表するものとして、現代における自然科学主義の台頭に関するハーバーマスの批判的議論に着目し、当の議論を支える種々の「自然」概念―『人間の将来とバイオエシックス』の中心的概念である「人間的自然」、あるいは、『自然主義と宗教の間』に見出される「経験科学的自然」「社会的に構成された自然」「客観的／主観的自然」「逸脱した自然史」といった多様な「自然」概念―の内実を明らかにした。そのうえで、ハーバーマスが用いる幾つかの「自然」概念と、「理性と自然の布置」あるいは「自然に条件づけられた自由」といったアドルノの着想との類縁性を指摘し、この限りにおいて、ハーバーマスの提唱する「柔軟な自然主義」の思想的源泉として、アドルノの「自然主義」の意義を再評価することができるという観点を形成するに至った。
