项目摘要

本研究課題では手話通訳場面における通訳実践を明らかにし，個々の実践をデータベースとして参照可能な形でまとめることを目的とした．研究期間中の主たる成果は通訳者が個々の実践を通じ，当該の場面で起こる相互行為上の問題を解決するための接続点としての役割を果たしていることを明らかにしたことである．通訳者は音声発話をそのままの形式では受け取ることができないろう者と，手話発話を受け取ることができるが内容を理解することができない聴者という2者間のやりとりを橋渡しする言語変換機としての役割を果たしている一方で，単純な機械的存在としてのみそこにいるわけではない．通訳者自身による積極的な相互行為連鎖そのものへの介入(代わりに返事をする，通訳者としてではなく1人の参加者として発言する)，それぞれの参与者による相互行為への参加の中継(話し始める際に直接の宛先となる参与者ではなく通訳者の注意を獲得する)といった役割を果たしており，1人の参与者として当該の場面で活動している．すなわち，異なる言語を用いる参与者間の相互行為に特有の問題を解決するにあたって利用可能な，ある種の相互行為的資源として利用されることがあることを，手話通訳場面の具体的なやりとりの微視的分析を通して具体的に示すことができた．また，手話通訳者は，その場で通用する訳語(日本語と日本手話の対応付け)を，日本語と日本手話との言語的・視覚的構造に依拠しながら創り出すというブリコラージュ的な仕事をしていることも明らかとなった．手話通訳者はこういった個々の実践を通じて，ろう者と聴者との意思疎通を可能とする基盤を，その都度，参与者に合わせた形で整備しているのである．
