项目摘要
PROJECT SUMMARY
This is an application in response to NIAAA Research Supplements to Promote Diversity in
Health-Related Research. The candidate's research will be within the scope of the parent award:
the utilization of optical noninvasive and high-resolution imaging technology to assess the effects
of ethanol and cannabinoid exposure on fetal brain growth and analyze the changes in the
vasculature supporting brain development. Complementing the approach described in the parent
grant, the candidate will perform additional experiments of embryonic imaging using fluorescence
and ultrasound imaging techniques for corroboration with the ongoing and already published
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)-imaged results.
The candidate's training plan includes the development of research, communication, and writing
skills and extensive training in physiology and biophysics of alcohol and drug abuse.
