英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. In this study we propose to evaluate the alterations in diastolic function following ventricular pacing in subjects with abnormal left ventricular systolic function. We will relate this to changes in the electrocardiogram and to autonomic tone as measured by plasma catecholamines. Four subject groups, consisting of ten patients each with implanted pacemakers, will be evaluated using radionuclide angiography to characterize diastolic function. The groups will include subjects with 1) normal left ventricular systolic function, 2) ischemic cardiomyopathy, 3) nonischemic cardiomyopathy, and 4) hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
