英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Dr Bolch and his co-workers use MR microscopy to image bone samples at high resolution, and then analyze the images to get measures of bone structure and trabecular density. These data are then used to aid in estimation of bone dosimetry for radiotherapy. Most data have been collected using Resource constructed coils on the 4.7T instrument, though exploratory studies on the 11T and 750MHz are being made. The 4.7T can accommodate relatively large samples and minimize susceptibility distortions that can arise from small bubbles in these samples. It remains to be seen if the susceptibility effects can be made acceptable for these studies at higher fields.
