This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The goal of this study is to replicate and extend prior findings differential alcohol response in early-stage heavy drinkers compared to light drinkers and examine the predictive validity of alcohol response factors to future drinking behaviors. Study participants (100 heavy drinkers, 100 light drinkers) will participate in three laboratory sessions of alcohol challenge (or placebo) and in subsequent follow-up interview for several years to determine their drinking behaviors, consequences, and general emotional functioning.
