英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Proteomics is a major component of four of the five initial research projects of our COBRE program, as well as a component of the research of the senior mentors of this program. Our goal is to develop a Proteomics Facility Core with a complete series of proteomics-related services. In the shortened year 01 we began to develop and expand the Proteomics Core's instrumentation and methodologies with the acquisition of a Biacore X SPR biosensor to perform surface plasmon resonance studies (SPR). We also began the planning process for renovation of the core facilities using the A&R funds from this COBRE award. In year 02 we have continued to expand and develop proteomics related services and methodologies for our investigators, including 2D gel electrophoretic and PF2D liquid separation techniques for complex protein samples and improvements to the ESI-MS injection system. We also successfully recruited a bioinformatics faculty (J. Moore) as part of the COBRE program who will assist with analysis of proteomics data. Projects 2 and 3 have begun using proteomics tools in their research with the core's support and assistance. We are now working with Projects 1 and 4 to discuss their proteomics related research and develop appropriate methods and tools for their use. We submitted the finalized renovation plans to NIH COBRE staff in year 02 for final approval, and began the process of obtaining local A&R permitting as well as contracting for final design. We have now begun the renovation process, with completion nearing for one of the three phases of the project and initiation of the other two phases. We anticipate completion of these phases over the next 4-6 months.
