D.6. Program Evaluation Evaluation of the program will be a regular function of both the ISC and the EAC. The Scientific Advisor appointed by NCCAM will work very closely with the PI to develop specific evaluation plans, and to assess the value and integrity of the evaluation on an ongoing basis. Based on regular investigator reports to the PI, the minutes of ISC meetings, and on site visits, the PI and the Scientific Advisor, along with selected members of the ISC, will assess aspects of each research project and Core involvement. Points of departure will begin with the planning process that each project will undergo if an award is made, and proceed with each step. Currently, project progress records are kept in a project database at PCCR and reviewed quarterly. Phases recorded are: planning, pilot testing, data collection, data analysis/interpretation, report writing, and manuscript submission. We will add a category entitled, "grant application development. Each year, a formal report will be prepared at the behest of the ISC, describing the progress and results of each project. This report will be attractive enough and appropriate in content to share with interested outside audiences. It will be developed in consultation with the EAC and Scientific Advisor. The Research Administrator will prepare and maintain formal subcontract arrangements with each collaborating institution. She receives monthly budget reports and is required to verify expenditures with each Co or Core leader.
