This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. Previous work in the lab has shown that as the fatty acid attached to ACP elongates from 10 carbons to 18 carbons, there is an increase in the motions of residues 30 through 40 within ACP, as shown by broadening of 15N HSQC peaks as well as increasing 15N T2 relaxation. The goal of this study is to carefully characterize the relaxation behavior of ACP with 15, 16, and 17 carbon fatty acid substituents, as these are likely to demonstrate the transition between a stable fold for ACP and the destabilization of residues 30-40.
