The Clinical Resources Core of the Oklahoma Shared Clinical and Translational Resources (OSCTR) provides
specialized clinical facilities, support for participant activities, regulatory assistance, and a variety of patient
registries, repositories, and associated clinical data, making it essential to the growth of clinical and
translational research of OSCTR investigators and our partner and affiliated partner institutions. Currently, our
heating and cooling water pumps located throughout our clinical research unit, sample processing and
biorepository laboratories, clinical research laboratories, and associated conference rooms at the Oklahoma
Medical Research Foundation (OMRF) are nearing the end of their life, have limited redundancy, and are not
up to industry standards. In this Alterations and Renovations Request, we request $300,000 to replace our
water pumps with energy-efficient equipment that provides backup capabilities in case of power outages or
failure. In addition, we will add digital control drive systems, allowing for improved energy efficiency and remote
monitoring and control in an emergency. These alterations and renovations are critical to the Clinical
Resources Core, as these pumps are necessary to bring chilled water to the OMRF campus from the Health
Sciences Center which is required for the operation of our limited access, locked walk-in cold room for
maintaining refrigerated therapeutics for clinical research and trials, as well as with freezer storage of the
various collections of the OSCTR Biorepository. This chilled water is also required for the walk-in cold rooms
and freezers in the laboratories of clinical and translational research investigators in the same Chapman,
Milligan Center and Acree-Woodworth buildings as the Clinical Research Unit and Biorepository. Furthermore,
these six updated systems will increase air exchanges in the clinical research and infusion areas, reducing the
risk of airborne infection for our clinical research and trial participants. This increased air exchange capacity
will also be helpful in allowing larger group clinical and translational research meetings in the conference
center and in increasing air exchanges in CTR laboratories which each contain multiple employees. OMRF
recognizes that this updated equipment is crucial for OSCTR services, other clinical and translational research
scientists, and multi-investigator projects and is committed to providing additional costs over $300,000 or not
allowed by NIH Policies and Procedures to complete this project.

OMRF
