With the success of recent computer vision research on problems like visual tracking, 3D reconstruction, and the detection and analysis of people from video, modern computer vision algorithms are now be applied to ever larger collections of image and video data. At the University of Toronto we are embarking on new projects and extending on-going projects which entail vast amounts of video data, which far outstrips the current processing capabilities of our shared research facility. We are requesting specialized new equipment for the capture and processing of video data to enable new research projects on computational photography, inferring 3D structure from long video sequences, and the estimation and analysis of human motion on long video sequences of natural scenes.
